Course Requirements

This course is for beginners. To get the most out of the course, you will need some confidence with computers and a smartphone. The course will be taught on Macs and part of the teaching will be to help you better understand and navigate MACOSX. You will also need to complete an individual learning plan.

Course Content

3D Computer Modelling with Blender (Beginners) is a comprehensive ten-week (30-hour) course designed to introduce students to the world of 3D modelling using Blender. The course covers Blender's interface, basic and advanced modeling techniques, texturing, lighting, and rendering. Students will learn to create detailed 3D objects, environments, and animations. The curriculum includes hands-on projects, peer reviews, and individual feedback to ensure practical understanding. By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in 3D modeling, preparing them for advanced courses or personal projects in digital art, game design, and animation.

Teaching and Learning Methods

You will learn in a comfortable well-resourced studio via a mix of presentation, active learning exercises, assignments, demonstrations, hand-outs, step-by-step instructions, pair working and group discussion. One-to-one tuition will be given to help develop ideas and skills. Manageable project work will be assigned between and during classes to help you progress. The classes are informal and allow for question-and-answer sessions, technical advice and support depending on your needs. You will receive regular assessment and feedback on your progress. You will work as a whole class, in small break out groups, in pairs and one-to-one with your tutor. Learners will be encouraged to use the class forum to support each other with project work between classes if required.

Assessment

You will be continually assessed through your practical activities and will receive feedback in a variety of ways such as peer assessment, verbal and written feedback from your teacher. This is a non-accredited course, but a certificate of completion can be provided by the College on request.

Teachers are supported to ensure their materials are inclusive to meet learners’ needs.
