A message from our Principal: supporting one another in challenging times

Over recent days and weeks, many of you may have seen or heard news about conflict and tensions in the Middle East. Some learners and staff at our college have said that this news makes them feel upset or worried. We want to recognise that this can be a difficult time for some members of our community.

At WM College, we are proud that our learners and staff come from many different backgrounds. Many members of our community have personal connections or deeply held views linked to events happening around the world. In times like these, people may experience worry, anger, grief, or uncertainty in different ways.

Even if we have different opinions, we all share a responsibility to make our college a place where everyone feels safe, respected, and able to learn.

At times like these, conversations can be difficult and emotions can run high. If discussions take place within our college community, we encourage everyone to approach them with care and respect for one another. Listening carefully, speaking thoughtfully, and recognising that people may be affected in different ways helps ensure that our college remains a place where everyone feels welcome.

WM College is committed to being a community where harassment, discrimination, and hate have no place, including antisemitism, Islamophobia, racism, or prejudice of any kind. Our college community is strongest when we respect and support each other.

We know that some learners or staff may need extra support at this time. If you are finding things difficult, you can speak to the Learner Support or Safeguarding teams at the college.

We cannot control conflicts happening in the world, but we can choose how we treat each other here. By being kind, respectful, and understanding, we can make sure WM College stays a place where everyone feels supported.

Thank you for continuing to uphold the values that make our college community strong.
