WMC learners raise money for charities

Three groups of learners raised money for three different charities today. Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens, Marie Curie and Diabetes UK will be benefiting from stern effort of our learners as part of their Team Working and Social Enterprise module on their Working in Administration Level 1 course at WMC-The Camden College.

The first group were fundraising and selling individual beautiful roses, baskets of flower arrangements hand made by learner Gloria Hunt and Christmas ornaments hand made by learner Cristine Zander. The learners raised just over £50 in the space of an hour and this money will go to Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens. This will cover the cost of running their Cancer Chat Forum for around three hours, helping many parents and families through very difficult times.

The second group were purely fundraising with the help of learner Nigel Prince dressed up as a tame lion and learner Zabun Nahar collecting donations. The learners raised £86.00 in the space of an hour and this money will go to Marie Curie. This will pay for two slide-sheets used by Marie Curie nurses and 30 bereavement booklets for those who have lost someone close to them.

The third group were fundraising and also selling some homemade Christmas cards. Learners Tina Daniel and Aferdita Krasniqi raised £32.00 in an hour through sales and donations with this money going to Diabetes UK.

Alison Hall, Business Admin and Medical Admin tutor at WMC-The Camden College, said “I am extremely impressed with my learners today. They have worked hard and managed to raise a great amount of money in a short space of time. To raise a total of £168.00 for three charities is brilliant.”
