WMC celebrates Chartered Institute for Further Education membership

Staff, learners and Mayor of Camden celebrate WMC-The Camden College achieving official membership to the Chartered Institute for Further Education (CIFE).

On Thursday 8 March senior managers had the privilege of attending the official ceremony to collect our certificate for membership to the Chartered Institute for Further Education.  Achieving this chartered status is a clear mark of excellence which shows potential new learners and employers that WMC-The Camden College is a centre of supreme quality in the areas of governance, leadership, professional development, teaching practice and community impact.

Mayor of Camden, Cllr Richard Cotton, who was once a part time learner with us, joined us for our celebration on Friday 9 March where he chatted to learners and staff while we all celebrated our CIFE achievement.

Commenting on their acceptance to the Charter, Principal Helen Hammond said:

“I am delighted that WMC-The Camden College has achieved the distinction of being the first adult college in London to join the Chartered Institute for Further Education (CIFE) membership. This supports our Ofsted ‘outstanding’ grade and recognises our continued efforts to ensure WMC-The Camden College is a learner-centred college dedicated to widening access to education for all adults across London.

We look forward to being part of this nationally recognised membership that recognises our commitment for providing high standards and opportunities for lifelong learning by improving employment prospects for the diverse range of London adults who may not be able to study full time or who need to fit their studies in alongside work and family commitments.

I hope WMC-The Camden College can motivate other Colleges to join the CIFE membership to show their level of excellence in education.”

Dan Wright, CEO and Secretary of the Chartered Institution for Further Education said:

“We are delighted to welcome WMC – The Camden College into Membership.

The application submitted demonstrated that the college has strong leadership and management and in particular is highly responsive to the needs of its learners. In particular we were impressed by the quality of the college’s strategic plan and its strong links with the community it serves.”
