Issue Desk Services

A high proportion of books and some journals can be borrowed. However, books labelled 'Reference' and some specific journals cannot be borrowed. The standard loan (3 weeks) period will be shortened if somebody else requests the item. You will be advised of a new return date by mail or phone. Materials held to support teaching are not available for students. Fines of 10p a day after the first 7 days are charged on overdue items. If you have fines outstanding, or overdue books you will not be allowed to continue borrowing. There is a replacement fine for unreturned items. Overdue notices are sent out by post once or twice a month. We are not in a position to guarantee that these notices will always arrive with you in time for you to take the requisite action, so please do not rely on them. You will still be liable for fines for overdue books if you have not received such a notice.

Reservations & Renewals

Reservations and renewals of Library materials can be made either in person or by phone. Please note that books and other materials on loan to you must be renewed and returned on time or be prepared to pay the stipulated fine. Security Measures Security measures for the prevention of theft and vandalism to the collections are of the highest priority for the Library. We have measures in place to ensure that the library is safe and secure so as to minimise the risk of theft or malicious damage to collections. All stock added to the collections bear electronic triggers to help deter theft. There is an established policy for dealing with those who try to remove materials, which have not been issued to them.
