Training for Work

Join our Training for Work programme designed to give you the skills you need to keep your job, or get back into work. FREE training, funded by the Learning & Skills Council, will support you if you have been affected by redundancy or unemployment.  If you have been out of work for up to 6 months, or are currently under the threat of redundancy, this is for you.

The Programme

Our package of support for you lasts from 2 to 8 weeks.  It will enable you to refresh your skills in your current work sector, or start to retrain for work in a new sector. Once you have been given your individual support and training we will help you to get employment. And once you have re-entered employment we can support you with you with yet more training under the Train to Gain programme.

  • Funded skills training (ISEB/ISTQB Software Testing, Prince 2 ®, Security, Retail, Administration and more)
  • Short qualifications – Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, First Aid, ICT
  • One to one support
  • Flexible package, from 9 to 75 hours training and support
  • Tailored to your individual needs taking account of your current and recent qualifications, experience and employment status

Are you eligible?

  • Over 18 years old
  • Unemployed for 6 months or less - or under the threat of redundancy
  • Resident in Camden, Islington, Kensington & Chelsea or Westminster

The Courses

Bespoke Training Package. WMC will help design a tailored training package based on your career goals. This could include professional courses.

Software Testing (6 days, 9am to 4.30pm). Understanding the Software Testing industry, presenting yourself at your best to employers, getting the best value from your technical skills, ISEB/ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing

Prince 2 2009 ® (5 days, 9am to 4.30pm). Foundation and Practitioner course (blended), accredited with examination on final day, presenting yourself at your best to employers.

Executive Employability Skills (3 day workshop, 9am to 4.30pm). Self Assessment and Career Goals Planning, communicating effectively, delivering Presentations, interviewing Skills, creating an effective CV.

Employability Skills (3 day workshop, 9am to 4.30pm). CV Writing, preparing a Cover Letter/Personal Statement, job searching, interview preparation and confidence.

Administration Skills (3 days a week for 3 weeks, 9.30am to 1.30pm). Effective Communication, telephone techniques, office practice, office equipment, business correspondence, using MS Office.

SIA Training (4 days for each programme, exam on day 4). Door Supervision, CCTV.
