WMC Mardi Gras / Carnival Week
Various locations in the college
Monday 08 February 2010 - Tuesday 02 February 2010
This year WMC is celebrating Mardi Gras/Carnival - in many European and South American countries this is a major festival held in the week before Lent starts, and for Europeans it provides a much needed celebration in the gloomiest part of the winter. So, there are lots of good reasons for us to join in and party too.
Activities and events taking place throughout the week include:
1. Mardi Gras display in the cafe.
The display is prepared and presented by students and will be up throughout the week.
And, by special arrangement, the Diablos exhibition will remain for an extra week. The photos are Carnival masks.
2. Shrove Tuesday traditional pancakes.
Available in the café throughout the week.
3. Capoeira Workshop: a fusion of fitness, dance and music.
Tuesday 9 February, 3.30-4.30pm, Maurice Hall. Free workshop, come along and wear comfortable clothing.
4. Mardi Gras Carnival
Wednesday 10 February 3.30-5.00pm, Maurice Hall. Music, face painting, colour hairspray, henna, masks. Wear bright clothes. Children welcome (accompanied by adults).
