On this course, students will be composing their own music or composing music with a given idea from the teacher. Every student will be encouraged to express themselves by composing in any style they prefer such as classical, modern, jazz, minimal or serial and will be taught compositional techniques, music theory and other information relevant to the chosen style. Counterpoint, harmony, form, and orchestration will be taught when applicable.

You will be learning about musical figures and rhythms, intervals, major and minor scales as well as basic harmony and chords. You will be engaged in the recognition of musical rhythms, intervals, scales and chords.
